Dave Thomas
Air Service Program Manager, NCDOT, Division of Aviation
With over 25 years experience in executive level planning, scheduling, and cost analysis with four airlines, Dave Thomas’ background in economic development and analysis brings tremendous experience to the NCFlyPorts project. Mr. Thomas’ aviation expertise includes extensive work in small community air service development including projects accomplished as part of the USDOT Small Community Air Service Development Program (SCASD). Dave has been instrumental in the successful growth and adoption of NextGen Aviation Technologies as he continues to develop ADS-B throughout North Carolina; sharing concepts with the FAA for further development across the East Coast. As an integral part of the North Carolina DOT Division of Aviation staff he continues to consult to the division on a myriad of aviation planning and development throughout the state.
Shelly Reams
President
Airport planning, facility construction, aviation business development, marketing, finance and grant management are among key components of experience Shelly Reams contributes to the NCFlyPorts project. As a lifelong aviation enthusiast with over 20 years of experience, Ms. Reams has consulted to air service enhancement projects, including projects with the SCASD Program, throughout the United States. Skilled in the art of airline negotiations, she has partnered to gain strategic air service on regional and local scenarios but especially to small communities. Her previous roles, which included heading up Wyoming’s state aeronautics department, emphasize her solution driven state and federal government expertise and an extensive background in flight operations and management, aircraft sales and procurement, and aviation safety. Her recent focus to develop on-line promotions of aviation services includes her partnership with the NCDOT and Coastal Technologies Group, inc., to create FlyPorts Programs enabled with Door2DoorAir™, which will begin with launches throughout the Southeast US.
Tonya Hampton
Marketing Manager
Formerly with the United States Air Force, Tonya Hampton has a background in aviation and related services. She worked with the NCDOT in administrative support roles and aviation education throughout the state of North Carolina. Tonya has been innovative with aviation business and development for fixed base operators, charter operations, flight training, and aircraft management in her roles as marketing director and director of customer relations. Tonya’s involvement in the promotion and coordination of the Honor Flight program enabled many veterans throughout the country to visit the WWII memorial for the first time. As secretary for the Kitty Hawk chapter of the Ninety-Nines, she has been heavily involved in promotional efforts and scholarship programs. Ms. Hampton also maintains a Commercial Pilot License with Multi-Engine Rating.
Dave Dorsey
Senior Marketing Associate
A long history of executive directorships in sales and account management distinguishes Dave Dorsey’s marketing expertise. Mr. Dorsey’s executive sales management in companies such as SAS and IContact has made him a leader in the high tech venue for strategic customer platforms. His roles as inside sales manager and director of sales and distribution at Midway Airlines in addition to his sales roles at American Airlines add particular value to aviation based marketing, sales and development.

Creed Ford IV and Sam Bosell, Managing Partners of Pictoric Media Group, LLC, specialize in the development of web sites and web applications that help businesses with both their marketing efforts and operational/process management. Their combined experience spans many large industries from Big 4 Accounting, Telecommunications, Creative Design, Information Technology and Interactive Marketing Strategies.
Karen Walker
E-Commerce Business Development Manager
Karen Walker is an Electrical Engineer with a Masters in Business Administration. As a systems engineer with Texas Instruments, she worked in digital signal processing and logic design where she developed and implemented strategy as a member of ISO committees that developed the initial standards for JPEG and MPEG. She developed 5 patents for audio and video digital processing systems. Ms. Walker helped pave the way for the digital age of cinema in her work with QuVIS, as they developed high-end commercial digital record/playback devices used to record, edit and play digital movies in theatres. Their clients included Walt Disney/Pixar™ and AMC Entertainment. As an expert in technical writing and documentation, she has written systems architecture specifications, design documentation, and end-user guides for both hardware and software. For the past ten years, as a Principal of West Trail Strategies, Inc., she has consulted in technical writing, website design, and web-based business development. She and her partners developed software which has proven successful in on-line auction-based business development. Ms. Walker has been involved with economic benefits evaluations and land use control studies for airports in the Western United States. An avid aviation enthusiast, Karen is also in the process of getting her private pilot license.
Richard Kane
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Coastal Technologies Group, Inc.
Telecom entrepreneur Richard Kane founded Coastal Technologies Group (CTGi) in 1996. It is an Inc. 500 company for 2005, the 191st fastest growing privately held company in the nation, and one of the world's largest Application Service Providers (ASPs), processing more than 12 billion transactions monthly. Kane and his team have 20-plus years of experience in capacity planning, route optimization and least-cost routing for the telecommunications industry. Spurred on by the belief that the intellectual property they developed has direct application to the air-taxi business, Kane and CTGI are now turning their sights to the air taxi optimization challenge. Kane is a commercial, instrument-rated, pilot, with seven current world speed records and one transatlantic single-engine crossing. Kane is a President's Circle EAA member, a Young Eagles Flight Leader and a sponsor of Women Soar, the outreach program for young women contemplating aviation, technology and business careers. Kane's company helped to sponsor the 2003 Centennial of Flight celebrations at Kitty Hawk. Richard is actively involved in the X Prize Foundation and has sponsored a 2007 Lindbergh Foundation Grant to study the impact of route optimization and direct routing on high-altitude pollution levels and fuel consumption. Kane serves as chairman for Coastal Technologies, Coastal Aviation Software, and the Creative Solutions Alliance with Erik Lindbergh, and is on the board of Contineo. Most recently, Mr. Kane and Coastal are teaming up with FlyPorts, International, for the launch of NCFlyPorts and Door2DoorAir™.
