The NCDOT Division of Aviation, working under a Small Community Air Service Development grant from the USDOT, is marketing the availability of on-demand air service in eleven communities in North Carolina.  This program is designed to combine the Division’s constant focus on safety and development of the publicly owned airports in North Carolina with the availability of on-demand air service currently available.  By making communities aware of the greater utility available from their local airport infrastructure, we’re opening access to the nation’s air service network from all the airports in North Carolina – not just the airports with scheduled commercial service.

We’re pretty excited about this project – we’ve done studies about how important air service access is for economic development, and we know firsthand how convenient this air service makes travelling around the state - and beyond.   Driving minutes to a local airport to meet a pilot and airplane that are ready to take YOU directly where YOU want to go – well, that beats hours of driving, security lines and commercial hub connections seven ways from Sunday.

Did you know this was available?  Maybe in the back of your mind, you knew that charter service is available, and the local airport is pretty close…but chartering is pretty expensive, isn’t it?  Well, try the booking engine on for size – see if today’s on-demand service can’t provide you with some pretty incredible business travel bargains.  It’s not as cheap as driving, but factor in all the windshield time and hotel nights that are transformed into more efficient office time and dinners and nights at home, and the value and flexibility the service can provide start to look pretty attractive.  200 miles per hour gets you there pretty quickly – and with North Carolina’s location on the east coast, your region just got a lot bigger.  Visit business partners in New Jersey or Florida – and be back the same day.  And don’t forget – this works both ways.  Now your important business visitors can fly into your local airport, where you can pick them up and be at your office in minutes.  A quick, efficient morning meeting, lunch at your favorite local restaurant, and they’re back home the same day – your local office just became open for business.  This is what they call having your cake, and eating it, too.
